Scott was diagnosed with malignant pleural mesothelioma, epithelioid subtype with clear‑cell features—a rare form of the disease that many oncologists rarely encounter in their careers. He had no known exposure to asbestos and was not a smoker. In the face of this diagnosis, Scott remained committed to helping others and expressed a strong desire to support research dedicated to this uncommon and understudied type of cancer.
