The Cleaver Family's Fundraising Page

Our leader, Dion Cleaver, a loving husband, father, best friend, a proud United States Marine Corps Veteran, fought the good fight, finished the race strong. He battled this horrible disease 14 months. He endured 107 days in Hospice, leaving medical experts without explanation, but to say 'they'd never seen such a Will to Live'. He modeled to his family, friends and medical support, exceptional work ethic in doing his part, a Will to surpass all expectations, enduring without complaint. Our family could not have been more blessed to have been loved and led by this man. We miss him every day. Mesothelioma is a rare cancer of the lining of the lungs, chest, heart, or abdomen often caused by exposure to asbestos. There is only ONE - FDA approved treatment regimen for Mesothelioma.

In our life-long mission to continue the good fight, as 'Dad' would be thrilled we're leading, help us fund research at curemeso.org . ALL financial support will go directly to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (The Meso Foundation), a Non-Profit collaboration of patients, families, physicians, caregivers, and researchers dedicated to eradicating the life-ending and vicious effects of Mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma disproportionately affects our Military Veterans. In fact, it is estimated that Navy Veterans, along with shipbuilders make up ONE THIRD of all mesothelioma patients. Given this statistic and the particular needs of Veterans, please make sure to read through the Veterans section at curemeso.org .

Asbestos is STILL widely used today in building materials for roofing, as well as in automotive, welding, mining, heating and cooling industries exposing individuals daily thru our consumer products, to the hazardous risks associated with Mesothelioma, that when inhaled, doctors have shared, can remain dormant in one’s body 20-60 years (our husband/father’s diagnosis - 57 years), despite asbestos being banned in 40 industrialized countries. Many hospitals are often “inconclusive” in their testing of patients, before forwarding biopsies on to more specialized laboratories and leading medical teams for a more accurate diagnosis.

Unfortunately funding is scarce today, despite the strong presence from our Meso Community on Capital Hill, urging our Government to fund more research for this orphan disease. Leading researchers and doctors from all over the world, along with patients, caregivers, and family members who have lost a loved one, gather annually for the International Symposium on Malignant Mesothelioma, hosted by the Meso Foundation, to discuss the latest advancements in Mesothelioma research.

Please come alongside, make a donation. Thank you for supporting the mission of the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation to ERADICATE Mesothelioma. We march on...
